 VTB becomes a sponsor of “The week of Olympic basketball in Russia”
On 22-27 July, the Russian Federation of Basketball holds “The week of Olympic basketball in Russia” under VTB Bank support. Within the framework of this event, VTB Cup tournament among the women’s teams takes place in Vidnoe town. The tournament provides a good opportunity for fans on the eve of the 2008 Olympic Games to watch the game between the current champion – Russian team and the past European Championship winners, in particular Spain, Czechia and Israel. According to Vasily Titov, VTB Deputy Chairman, VTB Cup “will allow fans and sportsmen on the eve of the Olympic Games in Beijing to know the possibilities and appreciate a game of the Russian team, which is an absolute favorite of the future international competitions. With the support of all Russian fans, our team will show perfect results both in the Cup and the major tournament of 2008”. For reference:
On 1 February 2008, VTB and the Russian Federation of Basketball signed a Sponsorship Agreement, according to which VTB Bank gained the status of the General sponsor of the Russian women’s national basketball team. Under the Agreement, VTB will provide sponsorship support to the women’s team, helping the Russian sportswomen prepare for the Olympic games in Beijing, and organize matches of the team and other events, held under the RFB aegis.
