MBRD Takes Part in the 6th Annual Russian Retail Banking Forum
23-26 June, Marriott Grand Hotel, Moscow, hosted the 6th Annual Forum of Adam Smith which focused on retail banking prospects and trends in Russia. MBRD’s Chairman of the Management Board, Mr. Sergey Zaytsev made a report on “Remote Banking Services”.
Mr. Zaytsev analysed expertise in remote banking services in Russia and abroad and highlighted the prospects for development of this type of services in Russia and MBRD’s plans in this respect.
Mr. Zaytsev told about MBRD’s achievements in this area. He said, “Remote banking services is an easy, convenient and safe way to manage your accounts from distance. About 40% of the Bank’s clients request this type of services. This demand has contributed to the robust development of distant banking services in western countries, in particular – in Western Europe where 84% of all Internet users have an Internet banking account (the average percentage for European Union is 44%). In contrast, this share of users for Eastern Europe is at the level of 30%, for Russia – 3%”.
Mr. Zaytsev underlined the market capacity in this segment, “Based on the amount of the most active users, we do believe that this audience is to grow 6 times in Internet banking segment, and 10 times – in mobile banking”.
