Dmitry Medvedev speaks about EXPOBANK
Dmitry Medvedev gave an extensive interview to Financial Times. In his response to the question about the relations between Russia and Britain he stated that "We have very good economic ties. Just magnificent. Over the last year investment by the Great Britain into Russia increased 3.7 times – almost four times – and totals about $26bn". As an example confirming favourable progress in foreign economic relations between the two countries the new President of Russia mentioned recent acquisition of EXPOBANK by the British Barclays – "Barclays has only just bought a Russian bank [EXPOBANK, note by Vedomosti] for about $800m. Therefore there are no obstacles for the development of economic ties. They are the most powerful they’ve been for the entire period of Russia-UK relations. And this is very good". Full text of the interview was published in the Vedomosti newspaper of 25.03.2008.
